Pioneer Montessori School
- Pioneer Montessori School began in the summer of 1980 as a dream of one teacher and a small group of committed parents
- It started with 18 students (ages 2 through 5) during its first fall semester
- Karen Oswalt Levy taught in the one room classroom and slept in the upstairs loft at night
- In 1981, Pioneer Montessori was incorporated and moved to its current location at Second Avenue
- 2005 welcomed Liza Weekes as Head of School while still running Toddler Room
- For several years Pioneer Montessori functioned in three different locations before purchasing adjacent building on Second Avenue
- September 2009 opened doors for new unified campus with six classrooms
- Continues to thrive providing authentic Montessori education that cultivates compassion, instills confidence, and awakens consciousness
